Dark circles under the eyes are a common complaint of both men and women. As people age, the skin becomes thinner and collagen is lost, this makes the appearance of blood vessels beneath the eyes more prominant and therefore the circles appear darker.
Stress and fatigue exhasibate the appearance of circles under and around the eyes for many people. However, conditions such as fluid imbalance or local swelling lead to puffy or swollen eyelids and cause shadows under the eyes which appear as ‘bigs’ or dark circles. Trauma (a “black eye”) can cause bruising which creates darkening of the entire eye area.
Circulatory disorders and dark cirlcels tend to be a family trait. In most cases, dark circles under the eyes are not a sign of a serious medical condition.
The symptoms are puffiness on and around the eye area, dark circles under the eye, this may be coupled with puffiness.
There maybe a hereditary factor, it also maybe due to poor circulation whereby the flow of nutrients within the eye area is sluggish.
