– Electrolysis
About Treatment
Electrolysis is a method of removing individual hairs from the face or body. Today’s medical electrolysis devices destroy the growth center of the hair with chemical or heat energy. After a very fine probe is inserted into the hair follicle, the hair is removed with tweezers.

Most areas of the body can be treated with electrolysis, including the eyebrows, face, abdomen, thighs, breasts, and legs. There are generally no permanent side effects, but sometimes a temporary, slight reddening of the skin may occur.”

How Do I Choose an Electrologist?

Electrologists are people who have special training to perform electrolysis. If you are considering electrolysis, it is important that you do your research before committing to sessions. The wrong decision can mean extra sessions and cost along with unnecessary discomfort and scarring. Know the professional’s qualifications. Many states require electrologists to be licensed or certified within the state to practice. If you live in one of those states, be sure the practitioner’s certificate is current and on display. For states that do not regulate electrolysis, look for electrologists who have certification from an accredited electrology school.

Ask around. One of the best ways to find good services is to ask friends and family as well as your doctor for recommendations. If you know anybody who has undergone electrolysis, ask for his or her input.

Get a consultation. Many places will give you a free consultation. During the consultation, be sure all of your questions are answered. Some things you may want to ask about include: how the procedure will feel; how many visits you will likely need; how much each visit costs; how long each session lasts; how long the practitioner has been in business; and the number of clients he or she has treated.

Make sure the electrologist uses the right technique. The practitioner should use needle electrolysis, which is the only permanent form of hair removal. Some places may advertise electrolysis but use electronic tweezers or photoepilators instead. These are not permanent hair removal procedures. Use common sense. When you go to your consultation, look around. Does the place look clean? Do the workers look clean? Do they use disposable gloves or needles? Ask to meet the person who will be performing the electrolysis. Does he or she strike you as professional? If you are not comfortable with somebody, look for someone else to do the procedure. Personal comfort is essential to knowing you have made the right choice.

Electrolysis After-Care

  • Following your treatment, do not touch or scratch the area treated! Bacteria are on everything and by touching your skin you are transferring bacteria from doorknobs, etc. to the treated area. This will cause a breakout (whiteheads).
  • Do not wash or wear make-up over the treated area for 24 hours. Even washing with soap will cause irritation and possible infection. Translucent powder is permissible.
  • Avoid perfume or alcohol-based products. They will dry out your skin. You can wipe the area with witch hazel, if needed.
  • Apply Bacitracin, Polysporin, Neosporin or another antibacterial ointment or cream to the treated area the night after your treatment. This will help your skin heal even faster, especially facial areas. Apply with Q-tips or clean hands. If your skin is still irritated on the second day, apply a Hydrocortisone cream (Cortisone, Cortaid, anything with 1% hydrocortisone or hydrocortisone acetate). It is anti-inflammatory and will reduce redness and swelling. Also works on pimples!
  • Avoid excessive sweating if having work done below the neck. Sweat can cause bacteria to enter into the open follicles and cause minor infection. Exercise before your electrolysis appointment instead of afterward.
  • Avoid the sun for the next 72 hours to avoid the formation of brown pigment spots. Your skin defends against UV rays by producing pigment, which will deflect some of the harmful rays. If your skin is injured or traumatized it can over-produce pigment in those areas. This can result in hyper-pigmentation.
  • ALWAYS WEAR SUNSCREEN.
  • Do not swim in a chlorinated pool for the first 48 hours following treatment.
  • If small scabs appear, do not scratch them away. This can cause scarring. Allow them to fall off naturally. This is nature¹s way of healing the follicle that we have treated. (the scabs are lymph fluid that has drained out the follicle and dried up) Keeping the area moisturized will often curtail the formation of scabs. If discomfort should occur in closely treated areas apply an Epsom salt compress: Add 1 tsp. Epsom Salt to 1/2 cup warm water, mix and soak up with a washcloth. Lay washcloth over treated area for 10 minutes and repeat until discomfort subsides.
  • If you are prevented from coming in as soon as you would like for your next treatment, DO NOT TWEEZE! The offending hair can be clipped off with small scissors, shaved, bleached or you can use a depilatory such as Nair.

Remember: Some re-growth is to be expected. If you will return when the first re-growth occurs, the roots are shorter and weaker and therefore can be treated more effectively.

– Diolaze – laser hair removal ultimate speed
About Treatment
Diolaze is the new champion in the laser hair removal arena. Diolaze is the FIRST high-speed diode hair removal system to deliver uncompromised power and pulsing to tissue (30J/30msec up to 40J ) with high speed (4 cm2/sec) in the same session. Diode scanning technology and built-in safe guards provide a unique combination of high tech sophistication with speed, efficacy and safety. Clinicians can benefit from this first and only combination of speed, efficacy, safety and comfort to optimize their hair removal revenue.

WHAT IS THE BENEFIT OF DIOLAZE?

Unlike traditional methods (waxing, shaving, bleaching or using depilatory creams), Diolaze laser hair removal impacts the root of the problem, rather than offering a temporary solution. Traditional methods will require treatment forever, while Diolaze only requires a few sessions. Most patients immediately notice a significant reduction in hair growth after a few sessions and eventually smooth and hair-free skin.

Procedure

  • HOW DOES DIOLAZE WORK?

During laser treatment, a diode laser beam passes through the skin towards hair follicles. The penetrating energy then heats up the root of the hair, which in turn prevents future hair growth.

  • DOES IT HURT?

Diolaze has a built-in skin cooling surface which is one of the largest for all hair removal devices. This makes treatment more comfortable than other devices, with most patients noting that Diolaze is virtually painless.

– Depilation
About Treatment
The term depilatory actually means ‘removing the hair’. But chemical products coming in cream, lotion, powder, gel, roll-on or spray forms that get rid of hair are often called depilatories. Most people, including myself, think of these specific type of products when they hear or see this word.

Procedure
A strong, alkaline-based product is placed on the unwanted hair and works until hair turns jelly-like. These chemicals often used can include sodium thioglycolate, calcium thioglycolate, and strontium sulfide to break down the protein bonds of the hair.

The depilatory hair removal process takes about five to ten minutes for it work, depending on the thickness of hair and manufacturer’s formula. Thicker hair, of course, takes longer to break down than finer hairs. The moisturizing or gentle versions, tend to be on the longer side and the versions made to be speedy. When the chemical reaction has done its job, the hair can be easily wiped off with a warm towel at, or somewhat below, the level of the skin.

Intense pulse light (IPL)

Treatment used for
How does laser / IPL hair removal work?

The laser / light energy is selectively absorbed by the melanin in hair follicles and converted to heat, diffusing to and injuring stem cells in the bulb and bulge.

  • Effective hair reduction can only be achieved during the active growth phase, only 25 % of hairs are in this phase at a time. Hence multiple treatments are required.
  • Hair reduction is considered permanent when a significant amount of hair does not return for a period of time longer than the complete growth cycle.
  • After a series of treatments, 80-85% of hair should be removed. However, if hair does regrow it will be finer and lighter than before.

How many hair removal treatments will I need?
6-12 would be typical. Some areas don’t respond as well as others eg female facial hair

How far apart should treatments be?
6-7 weeks
