Sclerotherapy
About treatment
How Sclerotherapy Is Done ?
In most cases of sclerotherapy, the salt solution is injected through a very fine needle directly into the vein. At this point, you may experience mild discomfort and cramping for one to two minutes, especially when larger veins are injected. The procedure itself takes approximately 15 to 30 minutes.
The number of veins injected in one session depends on the size and location of the veins, as well as the general medical condition of the patient.
Sclerotherapy is performed in the doctor’s office by a dermatologist or a surgeon and requires that you do not do any aerobic activity for a few days after the procedure.
Treatment used for
Sclerotherapy is a medical procedure used to eliminate varicose veins and spider veins. Sclerotherapy involves an injection of a solution (generally a salt solution) directly into the vein. The solution irritates the lining of the blood vessel, causing it to collapse and stick together and the blood to clot. Over time, the vessel turns into scar tissue that fades from view.
Sclerotherapy is a proven procedure that has been in use since the 1930s.
Procedure
What to Do Before Sclerotherapy ?
Prior to sclerotherapy, you should avoid certain medications. Talk to your doctor about all medicines (including over-the-counter drugs, herbs, and dietary supplements) you are taking. If you need to take an antibiotic before sclerotherapy, contact your doctor. No lotion should be applied to the legs before the procedure.
Some doctors recommend avoiding aspirin, ibuprofen (such as Advil, Motrin, and Nuprin) or other anti-inflammatory drugs for 48-72 hours before sclerotherapy. Tylenol, however, should not affect this procedure.
Recovery
What Happens After Sclerotherapy ?
After sclerotherapy you will be able to drive yourself home and resume your regular daily activities. Walking is encouraged.
You will be instructed to wear support hosiery to “”compress”” the treated vessels. If you have compression hosiery from previous treatments, you are encouraged to bring them with you to be certain they still have adequate compression. Department store support stockings will not be adequate if a heavy compression stocking is needed. Your doctor’s office can recommend where to purchase heavy compression stockings.
Following the injections, avoid aspirin, ibuprofen, or other anti-inflammatory drugs for at least 48 hours. Tylenol may be used if needed.
Also, you should avoid the following for 48 hours after treatment:
– Hot baths
– Hot compresses
– Whirlpools or saunas
– Direct exposure to sunlight

Is the red vein removal treatment painful?
Some patients report feeling a slight stinging sensation during their Red Vein Removal treatment followed by some redness which usually settles in 2-4 hours.
– Veinwave
About Treatment
Veinwave is a new procedure which uses thermocoagulation to safely and effectively treat spider veins (telangiectasia) anywhere on the body. The procedure was developed by vascular surgeons as a way to treat very tiny veins that cannot be treated with sclerotherapy — which can involve risks of burning and scarring when treated with lasers. Veinwave can also be used to treat veins in difficult-to-treat locations, including the face, ankles, and knees. The treatment relies on thermocoagulation to heat and close vessels instantly, in a procedure that takes less than 15 minutes to perform and involves no downtime.
Treatment used for
Who is a candidate for Veinwave?
Any adult man or woman in good general health who has thin spider veins, the tangled, thread-like veins also known as “telangiectasia,” and who is looking for a quick procedure with no downtime, can be an excellent candidate for the Veinwave procedure.
Veinwave is ideally suited to treat spider veins wherever they may occur, including delicate areas where other treatments may not be suitable. Areas that can be treated include:
– Legs
– Arms
– Ankles
– Knees
– Face
Veinwave is not recommended for the following individuals:
– Those who are epileptic
– Individuals with bleeding disorders
– Men and women with pacemakers
– Pregnant women
Procedure
How is the procedure performed?
Recovery
What is the recovery like?
There is no downtime associated with the Veinwave procedure. Men and women treated with Veinwave can resume their normal activities immediately after their procedure. In addition, no bandages are required.
Most men and women return to work and other normal activities immediately after their procedure.
When will I begin to see results?
With the Veinwave system, you will see results immediately following your treatment, as tiny veins close and begin to disappear. Results will continue to improve over the next few days following your procedure.
Treatment of spider veins with the Veinwave system is permanent: once your veins are treated successfully with the Veinwave system, you will no longer be bothered by them.
What are the advantages of Veinwave over other procedures?
Veinwave offers many advantages over other procedures used to treat spider veins and telangiectasia, including:
In addition, the Veinwave procedure is also faster than comparable treatments.
– VeinGogh
About Treatment
Uses for VeinGogh
The VeinGogh technique is FDA approved for treating vascular lesions including spider veins and telangiectasia on the legs.
This technique is a convenient and practically painless cosmetic solution for those who have spider veins they’re looking to remove. Because of the small size of the probe that is inserted into the vein during treatment, the discomfort you will experience is minimal. Many patients have said it feels like a small pinch, and similar to having a single hair removed.
Adult patients who are generally considered to be in good health, with spider veins up to 0.3 mm in diameter are the best candidates for the VeinGogh technique. It is especially effective in treating tiny, reddish veins, which are too small to inject for sclerotherapy. It is not designed to treat the feeder veins or large, deep vessels, which are generally found in the legs.
Treatment used for
Nobody who has spider veins is happy about it. Squiggly blue and red lines that are visible to the naked eye make a person feel like they’re rapidly aging, to the point of having translucent and fragile skin. If you’re tired of looking at thin veiny squiggles on your legs, VeinGogh might be the solution you’ve been looking for.
Procedure
The VeinGogh procedure delivers a high frequency (4 MHz) current to the vein being treated via an insulated probe that is as thin as a human hair.
The current is called peak wave modulation, which is delivered as a microburst. A VeinGogh specialist (which can be a trained medical staff member under the supervision of a practicing physician) manages the treatment through the ease of the autopulse feature, which allows them to focus on treatment while the microburst does the pulsing on its own.
VeinGogh is unique in that it uses Ohmic Thermolysis to deliver the pulse. Once delivered, the microburst heats the selected vein. This causes the blood to coagulate and collapse the vein wall. The collapsed vein is no longer functional and is reabsorbed by the body, which makes it no longer visible.
Treatment time ranges from one minute for smaller areas up to 20 to 25 minutes for a more extensive area.
Complications of the VeinGogh technique are almost non-existent, in most cases. The most common post-treatment result being a chance of mild redness and a very small risk of scarring.
Recovery and follow-up
Patients return to normal activities quickly after undergoing the VeinGogh technique. There is no specific downtime, and no bandages are required.
With the proper treatment, the treated veins should not recur after undergoing this procedure. It is important to note that new veins can develop in the treated or surrounding area, which can require further treatment. This is true of any type of vein treatment, especially as collateral circulation develops around the area.
While only one treatment is usually required to treat a specific area, some providers suggest a follow-up “touch-up” treatment, depending upon the severity of the condition or area being treated.
The results are seen immediately although continuous improvement can be seen over ensuing weeks as the treated vessel is absorbed.
– MaxG
Treatment used for
MaxG offers superior closure of the larger, deeper facial vessels with a unique combination of Dynamic Spectrum ShiftingSM and dual-band filters—which provides more uniform heating across the entire diameter of larger vessels.
And with our patented advances in pulsed-light performance, your clients can experience a comfortable, no-downtime treatment on their way to a refreshed and rejuvenated appearance.
The Benefits of MaxG
Delivering dual bands of wavelengths to selectively target the absorption peaks of hemoglobin and preferentially heat blood in the presence of melanin, the MaxG offers superior closure of the larger, deeper facial vessels with Dynamic Spectrum Shifting.
The MaxG’s Dynamic Spectrum Shifting increases the concentration of near-infrared light with longer pulse widths to provide more uniform heating across the entire diameter of larger vessels.
