For many years Fraxel laser was the gold standard in skin rejuvenation treatments. However, the development of hybrid fractional laser technology has created what some practitioners call a “game changer” for their clinic and “revolutionised” skin resurfacing treatments. The HALO treatment from Sciton offer the world’s first hybrid fractional treatment that is setting new expectations for patients and practitioners. If you like to keep up with what the hottest treatments in skin rejuvenation are, take a look at what makes these skin rejuvenation treatments suitable for all skin types.

What is hybrid fractional laser technology?

Hybrid fractional laser combines two different laser wavelengths that in other devices would be two separate have to be delivered in two separate treatments. Delivering both ablative and non-ablative wavelengths the HALO hybrid fractional laser is able to be customised to each patient so they receive the treatment that gets the results they want with the downtime they are able to afford. Obviously for deeper, more intense treatments there is a longer downtime expected.

Having the hybrid laser allows the HALO to treat a wider catch of skin conditions that otherwise would be treated with two or more treatments including sun damage, skin discolouration including age spots and uneven skin tone, pigmentation fine lines and wrinkles and so much more. The result is smoother, glowing skin that many HALO enthusiasts say allows them to ditch the make-up for months after their treatment.

Combination treatments

Often offered as a twin treatment with HALO is the BBL. BBL stands for Broadband Light and is an IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) device but it is actually the most powerful one on the market. IPL has become one of the most popular treatments of the last couple of years and is used as a standalone treatment but also frequently used by practitioners and surgeons before and after more intensive non-surgical and surgical procedures to help complement those procedures and fast-track healing. The BBL is when used on it’s own able to treat a variety of skin issues such as acne, ageing skin, loss of skin firmness and tautness, small veins and blood vessels and more, but when used in conjunction with the HALO it really packs a punch. Not only does it assist the HALO treatment to boost the results, but it helps the skin heal faster, meaning the combination of both treatments is getting results previously unseen by non-surgical treatments.

Dr Tony Campo, well known dermatologist from in Barcelona in Spain told us when he visited Australia for the Australasian College of Dermatologists Symposium earlier this year that he bought the BBL after only two weeks even though he already had another IPL machine. “When you start using the device it’s absolutely amazing. It was changing my way of working by getting much better results in less sessions. I also bought the HALO after only two weeks of trying it out. It was a device I was not so prone to buying because I had a bad experience with another fractional device. Again, the HALO completely revolutionised my way of working. I was able to do the fractional type of treatments in a very easy procedure getting amazing results with very fast treatments and low complication rates.”
