Meet Dr Rohit Kumar
“Great plastic surgery does not create beauty, it merely enhances features to display the beauty that was always present.”
Dr Rohit Kumar is an Australian trained and fully certified cosmetic plastic and reconstructive surgeon.
Dr Kumar completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree in 1995 at the University of Queensland. He subsequently went on to successfully complete a Masters Degree in the field of Burns Surgery in 2004 – MMedSci (Burns)
His advanced surgical training commenced in the specialty of General Surgery in which he trained for four years. This gave him a solid foundation of technical knowledge and surgical perspective upon which he then built his considerable skills, once he commenced his advanced training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. The Australasian training scheme in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery is one of the most thorough and rigorous in the world and upon successful completion of this training, over a period of ten years, Dr Kumar was awarded his Fellowship in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery – FRACS (Plas).
He thus brings over 15 years of surgical experience to his practice having been involved in over ten thousand procedures in that time.
Dr Kumar is the CEO of Sydney Cosmetic Sanctuary, Australia’s first comprehensive Cosmetic Surgery, Cosmetic Dentistry and Medispa experience. The Sanctuary was designed to accentuate the ideals of a holistic level of patient care that not only covered the initial surgical or dental procedures but was also part of the patients ongoing wellness. As such, Dr Kumar’s vision is now being shared by some of the top dentists, dermal therapists, stylists and hairdressers in Sydney – all of whom come together to provide an experience like no other in Australia.
Dr Kumar is also appointed as a VMO at Nepean Public Hospital. This is a major teaching hospital in Sydney, and Dr Kumar is responsible for training young plastic surgeons, as well as providing plastic surgery services for this major hospital in western Sydney. As part of his teaching, Dr Kumar has also been an Associate Clinical Fellow in Anatomy at the University of Technology Sydney and Notre Dame University and is an instructor for the Emergency Management of Severe Burns (EMSB) courses in Australasia.
He held the position of the inaugural Queensland Fire and Rescue Authority Burns Fellow at the Children’s Hospital in Brisbane for two years. He has also been a Visiting Fellow to the Shriners Burns hospital in Dallas Texas as well as the Intermountain Burns Hospital in Salt Lake City.
With extensive research experience, Dr Kumar is extremely well published and is a highly sought after speaker at national and international conferences. He has been on expert panels for the Queensland Government and has been requested by various media sources to give his opinion on the latest in plastic surgery trends. He is part of the Expert Advisory Board on cosmetic surgery for Vogue magazine and featured on their expert panel for Breast and Body surgery.
Dr Kumar is a firm believer in providing as natural a look as possible for his patients. His procedures are always designed to provide maximum appeal and beauty and he always aims to achieve this using the most subtle and state of the art techniques as possible.
Known for his warm and inviting manner, Dr Rohit Kumar believes that “communication is the key to great results” and his patients can be comfortable in the knowledge that he will answer all their questions and alleviate all their concerns before embarking on their surgical journey.
