Having trouble fitting into your jeans? Excited about the warmer weather leading us into swimwear season but worried because your belly is a little too full of winter comfort food? Want a tighter tummy without surgery? Had a tummy tuck or lipo and feel like you need to refine the results a little bit? We talk about how to get shape without surgery.

If you answered yes to any of these questions, you might be interested to hear that Rejuvenation Clinics of Australia (RCA) offer an effective solution that won’t break the bank. We spoke to Rachael Drummond, one of their Senior Clinicians to find out more about how to get in shape without surgery.

There are dozens of non-invasive fat reduction treatments that have flooded the market in the last few years. Rachael explains that some treatments aren’t necessarily better than others, but certain treatments might work better for certain people. “We offer a range of treatments so that we can recommend the right treatment for you personally.”

The most popular treatments tend to be Ultrasound Fat Reduction (using Ultraformer), Fat Freezing (done with CoolSculpting or CoolTech), or LipoBlast (aka Scizer). Here is what you can expect from each treatment, and when they might be recommended.

Ultraformer

Ultraformer works well on small amounts of fat as well as improving skin laxity. It’s recommended for small areas of accumulated fat that are uneven, or that won’t go away no matter how many hours you spend at the gym. Such areas that work well with Ultraformer is the double chin area which is becoming increasingly popular as there is no down time. The best part about this treatment? It can tighten and smooth your skin while it zaps fat.

As the name suggests, Ultaformer uses ultrasound energy to create heat beneath your skin. Rachael explains that Ultraformer can direct energy to different depths. At 1.5mm-4.5mm, it’s used as an anti-aging treatment for your face, neck and décolletage, as it stimulates collagen in your skin to tighten and firm. When it is targeted in the fat tissue and accumulated heat energy is produced, it will eradicate fat cells. She tells us that it is a very popular treatment for people who have cellulite or a little bit of sagging skin after losing weight. It’s also a great option for treating a double chin or lumpy arm fat.

Rachael says that treatments can take 20 minutes to a full hour, depending on the size of the area being treated. She usually recommends 2-3 treatments, 1-3 months apart depending on the areas treated and the results you want to achieve.

Fat Freezing

Fat freezing can be done with CoolTech or CoolSculpting. Rachael says that they tend to get equal results with both machines, and they both use cooling technology to freeze fat cells, essentially destroying them.

Fat freezing is recommended for a bulge of stubborn fat in a particular area, she explains. It’s very popular for women who want to get rid of their mummy tummy, but it might also be recommended for love handles, back fat and inner thighs.

During treatment, you’ll have a suction cup placed on the area being treated, and it stays there for about an hour. Rachael says that the treatment area goes numb rather quickly and you can always use your laptop or phone to catch up on emails or your favourite Netflix show.

LipoBlast

LipoBlast is done with a Scizer machine. Similar to Ultraformer, it uses ultrasound energy to destroy fat cells, but the key differences, Rachael tells us, is that LipoBlast can treat larger areas than Ultraformer and results can be seen sooner. While Ultraformer might be great for double chins, arm fat and parts of the thighs, LipoBlast might be recommended for the abdomen, larger parts of the thighs, love handles and rolls of back fat. It also works well on cellulite.

Treatments can take 1 – 1.5 hours, depending on the area being treated, and you might be recommended to have 2-4 treatments, depending on the accumulation of fat in the area you want to treat.

Rachael recommends coming in to speak to a Clinician who is familiar with how these treatments work and what their capabilities are. That way, you can have an assessment and a better chance at finding the right treatment for you.
